So it would seem 'some assembly required', while great for Swedish
furniture stores, is not what people want in a steakhouse.

Stonegrill was a steakhouse that served your steak raw and gave you a
hot rock to fry it on yourself (or so I'm told, I never went
obviously). Their spot is now occupied by what would seem to be a
yuppie sushi joint.

By contrast, the little Vintage Cafe coffee shop next door is going strong and seems to have a brace of regulars. I just wished they stayed open later...like midnight or beyond. That would be pretty cool.

I've walked by that place a few times, looks reasonable enough. How's their bean juice compare to some other local shops?

$1 for a small coffee. Better mud than any chain coffee shop; not quite in the league of Temple or Old Soul, but almost as good, and a lot cheaper. Cheap baked goods too (muffins or big cookies are also $1.) Cute shop girls, too--not that I'm in the market, but now that I'm old enough to officially be a dirty old man it's nice to have cute shop girls to chat with when I get my coffee.
