I'm itching for a road trip, so this morning I woke up and decided to do a daytrip, hoping that it serves enough to tide me over for now.
10.5 hours and 520 miles later, I just got back from visiting the lovely spot known as "Rye Patch State Recreational Area" in Nevada. nice little oasis in the middle of the desert, carved out of the ground in a mini-canyon by a stream and dammed near the top to make a reservoir, it's got a nice feel to it and made for a relaxing trip.
I'm telling ya, Nevada has got some amazing countryside out there. Beautiful mountains, vast plains, and simply stunning sunsets. it also gives me a whole new sense for the phrase "middle of nowhere".
