tonight's sleep ought to prove interesting, I went and got a mattress topper today. This raises a few questions -firstly there's the philosophical issue of "can I even have a mattress topper when I don't have a mattress" but there is also the (somewhat more pertinant) question of if this will prove too soft for me. I suppose we'll see tomorrow morning.

If an apple peeler can be use to stab someone in teh face, your matress topper has philosophical ground for being used a floor padding instead. :)

I suppose there is some truth to that. An object's label need not restrict the potential uses for it.

Yeah, I have an issue where if I sleep on any mattress, I wake up with horrible skeletal pains (mostly back and hips/shoulders). Sometimes it's so bad I can't hardly move and it takes a half hour of stretching and twisting to get out of bed. So, I decided to start sleeping on the floor and I've had pain-free mornings for over a year now. only problem with this solution is if there's too little padding, the floor makes my muscles sore. nothing like the pain from a mattress, just a dull soreness that takes a bit of walking off. So I usually lay a blanket or two down on the floor and sleep on that -- it tends to be just about perfect.

one benefit: when I'm staying over at someone's place (like after a party), I don't have to fight for the comfy couch or something. :)

Does it hurt when you lay down on a couch to read or watch TV?

if the show is any reasonable length, and the couch is extra-cooshy, I have todo regular shifting and readjusting to keep any one area from being annoyed by it too much. generally, I'll shift around 'bout once every 10-15 minutes.
