just a hair over $200 left for the month (well, after the car down payment goes through that's what it'll be at -- this is why I fscking *HATE* cheques, the waiting). bills are paid, just need to afford food and gas. a bit tighter than I like to have it (I preferr having plenty of "wiggle room" in my budget), but I think I can do this. Just have to be careful about my spending.

Ok, I missed the tiny line in the bottom of the post where you said you got it. I gather from the comments it's a hybrid... what did you get?

that's awesome! congratulations! here's the added bonus: you won't have to spend too much of that $200 on gas!

tell me how you like your new car--i'm thinking about getting a hybrid too.

yeah, I'm hoping to not spend any of it on gas. I'm trying to keep my driving down, aiming for around 6k mi/yr or less. this month, I'll try to drive even less than that since I don't want to get too used to driving when public transportation could do just as well.

so far, I like it. I've taken it on a few small 'round-town errands and it performs quite well. Just what I need, performance-wise. It's also quite comfy to sit and drive in. Very nice, so far.

I miss wiggle room. We've had very little of that since we bought the house last year.

ah, but you have a house. House payments tend to preclude wiggle room. they're certainly more than worth it in the long run, though.

Oh, definitely. Compared to paying rent (an investment for now, not the future), the house is great.
