so yeah, went and had sushi today, decided to pick up my mom and take her with me. We had a good time talking and visiting, and of course the eating of tasty feesh. The waitress was great, too. Wonderful attitude, and quite attractive. A pleasant experiance, to say the least.

afterwards, I had to stop off at the store for some soap, so I drop mom off and go to get some soap.. As I'm walking away from the parking spot I notice just how anoyingly typical the picture was. A Hybrid parked at the Natural Foods Co-Op. Yeah. I swear I'm not some smelly won't-bathe fucking tree-huging save-the-animals hippy. I swear I'm not!!!
kinda made me laugh, though. the Hybrid was the only vehicle there that didn't run soley on gas (excluding bio-diesel, which doesn't usually advertise itself on the back of the car (unless you smell the exhaust)). Half the parking lot was SUVs. :) Guess I'm not the only non-hippy that shops there.

I was so dead after the bike ride today, though. Not the heat, or the distance, or anything about the ride itself that did it to me. It was my lack of proper nutrition. I had an unusually small breakfast, and skipped lunch (with the exception of the one powerbar, which hardly counts), and the previous night's dinner was rather lacking. I was just so entirely without energy after getting home. That, and the dry salt that I was wiping off my face told me I needed real food FAST.

I better get some good sleep tonight, these past few weeks of not sleeping well have been reaking havoc on my system. The car is bought, the finances are spot-on budget, I'm very pleased with the decisions made (well, except the insurance, but that will be easilly fixed in a week or two), now can my mind PLEASE stop going crazy over this and LET ME SLEEP?

yeah.. oh yeah, I know about hydration! I was being a good boy and making sure I was well hydrated.. I actually had to use the potty a bit when I got home, so I was well hydrated indeed! :) I was actually getting a bit sick from having so much water (not an unusual ammount for excersizing, but that's still more than normal) on an empty stomache. My body likes to have some substance to handle the water with.

Congratulations on the car and the soap. And the sushi! (I have some wonderful footage someplace of my brother eating wasabi for the first time and choking all over the table.)

Still would love to get my hands on your hat, by the way...

oh, and thank you. Thank you, also, for your words on the hybrid. I did consider them and actually wasn't planning on purchasing it based on them. But then I got deeper into the reliability of the other cars and it seemed that they all had a few black marks here and there so I looked at the hybrid again and decided that I'll just have to chance it. So far it's a very nice car, but this is only after having it for 27 hours, so I expect my opinion of it may change. :)

I keep looking at the hybrids, too. It'd make me very happy not to have to rely on fossil fuel to get from place to place. The acceleration caveat is my biggest fear -- driving the highways on Long Island is like driving the Autobahn. I live near an extremely dangerous intersection at which I need to enter the expressway at about 70mph with only about 500 yards to get to that speed before being smashed by oncoming traffic. There are (no exaggeration) at least two accidents a month in this spot.

Plus, I like to go fast. =)

heh.. yeah, highway acceleration is a minor issue with the hybrid. It gets up to 40 or 50 easilly enough, certainly no worse than other cars at that end. Once you hit 50 or 60, though, there really isn't much punch in those upper gears. Sure, it'll cruise on the highway at 85 just fine (did it without even noticing yesterday), but if you need a sudden jump from 70 to 80, it simply isn't happening.

Though, to be fair to the normal cars, the hybrid does still rely on fossil fuel as well. It just uses a bit less of it.

yes, and honestly I also hug trees.. But we also have an appreciation for the utility of bathing. :) True hippies, I don't really mind. I've known quite a few. Some of my aunts and uncles were/are hippies. My parents were right at the end of that generation, and got a bit of it also. The hippie movemment had a lot of wonderful philosophies that I'm quite fond of. the neo-hippies that some kids try to be these days, they drive me batty.

I once discovered that the best way to get a hippie man to take a shower is to offer to get in with him.... hehehehe.... it never fails... :D

No, he's not a hippie. I wasn't implying he was or ever has been. He just happened to be sitting next to me and I know how much he loves hippies... :)
