I rode my bike to work today.
Now, I will be the first to admit that it's really not that far a ride from Mather Field to CSUS. After counting in the side-streets to get to the parkway it's only something in the neighborhood of 8 or 9 miles. Not that far when you get right down to it. The thing is, though, I'm so disgustinly out of shape that I was seriously winded by the end of the ride! It took me an hour to make it here, and that's not too much longer than it used to take me to make similar distance rides (I was never a really fast rider), but the fact that I was so tired afterwards is pathetic. I used to be able to ride for 12 hours straight and still have enough energy left to do standard stuff like put the bike away and walk around and think. Today I get done with my one hour ride and I'm stumbling when I walk!
At least I did it, though. Now I just need to _keep_ doing it every day and I'll get back into shape in a reasonable ammount of time.
Perhaps this summer I'll be able to go on some nice day-long rides on the weekends. That'd rock, I haven't done that since high school.
