Here is an interesting article about more reasons not to use IE and MSN Messenger.

Summary: It is possible to basically hijack someone's MSN Messenger through a hole in IE, giving you unrestricted access to their local files and contacts. The great part is, there is no patch yet available for this one. There was one put up yesterday, but it was removed from the update site shortly thereafter.

Makes me happy I'm using an "all but forgotten" browser.

slightly different story. The previous just identified you and your friends. This one allows the "hacker" to browse your drives, send any files they want to almost anyone, send messages as you, and do whatever else their little heart desires through MSN Messenger.

It could be the same hole, and if so this story serves as a deeper look at it. However, I think they are actually different holes, as the previous one is fixed with a simple registry hack and this one requires a patch from microsoft.
