. . . or something like it.

SuSE8.2 is up and well. I'm happy with it. My quest for a decent IM client is still going rough, but it is a nice challenge.

Work is both busy and slow.. If that makes any sence.. I have tons of crap to get done, but it's all either long-term or low-priority so it seems like I'm doing a lot but not getting anything done.. I hate this feeling.

It has been decided: I am a goob.

there's more, but this is LJ.

Actually, I assumed he tried Trillian (it's very popular) and didn't like it, hence the still searching.

I'm constantly assuming stuff, because I like to eat my words. They taste good.

uh, yeah.. no.

See the first line re: SuSE.. it's Linux.. Trillian doesn't do Liunx that I've found (the bastards)..

Otherwise, I'd be happy as a clam.. Trillian is a great program that I used to use way-back-when... I would like to use it again, as I recall it was quite full featured.

yeah, and I thank you for the effort. It is unfortunate that it is not an option for me.

If you don't mind paying a bit of extra change -- Codeweavers' Crossover Plugin is supposed to handle Trillian pretty well -- along with many of the other plugins that make the web so puuuurty and non-compliant to standards (Shockwave, Flash, etc.)

Don't know how well CxPlugin works - but CxOffice v2 works *quite* well.

And just think -- you could ALWAYS be running debian ... the only way you can get >= Gaim 0.6 is to run unstable.

(goes away ... checks packages.debian.org) ... whaaa??? They just upgraded the testing track?

pardonmegottaapt-get! (ZOOM!)

yeah, I could be running Debian.. but I'm not. I've not looked at it yet, and probably would like it more than SuSE, but I'll wait till I'm comfortable with SuSE before trying out a different one.

And, acutally, BSD is next on my list.

's how I was with Mandrake ... running quite happily until I did something dumb and ended up in RPM dependency hell. Now I'm starting a Gentoo test on another box, with Slackware and Free-BSD somewhere in line behind those.

Which BSD were you thinking of?

I am sorry to tell you, but you have always been a goob. We always just assumed you knew. I apologize if finding out at this time was upsetting and if you think find out at an earlier time would have made it easier on you. To avoid more "suprises" like this one I list all of your qualities:

Geek (varying types)
Nerd (again varying types)
Dork
Dumbass
Dweeb
Spaz
Neo Hippie
No Good Liberal Bastard

I would have listed the various types of geeks and nerd but I am afraid I would have run out of space.

So there you have it, your list of derogatory terms that apply to you.

A lot of the ones that came to mind where more of states of mind or modifiers to terms that didn't apply to you. While you are a "clueless fuck" sometimes, clueless is a state of mind and you are not a fuck.

Have you tried any Jabber clients at all? A few of my Linux-based friends use and love them (I think Gabber, primarily), I use Exodus (for Windows) and run AIM, Y!, MSN, and ICQ through it as well as my Jabber ID. Handy. :)
