12:31 - timing..

Previous Entry Share Flag Next Entry

don't ya just hate when you're not ready to do something, but you want to anyways?

Like jumping off the cliff before you've put on the parachute?

feeling twelve units shy of a bachelor's degree
</mood-music> (anyone know the song it's from?)

grrr... waiting can be so annoying sometimes.. I really need to work on that. my impatience will be the death of me someday, I just know it.

And, what with the joy that is modern dentistry, I will have to wait another month before being out of debt. Add to that my mom's financial issues I had to cover a bit back, which put me another month behind schedule, and I'm beginning to feel like I'll never get out from under this weight. Every month there's something new to set me back behind schedule.

At least I'm paying all the bills roughly a month in advance. That much is a nice feeling. Wouldn't be had my tax return (reminder to Ox#10: check where yours is) not came the same month my mom's finances blew up, but like I say: timing is everything!

I suppose it's also a good thing that I'm not adding anything new to the cards.

being poor sucks ass. Being paid (roughly) 5 times what you've ever made in your life anywhere else and still being forced to live a poor lifestyle because of huge debt sucks the ass of being poor!

Here's where I disagree.

Honestly, you got it good compared to others - you're not as poor as you think you are.

You're poor by choice, because you're working on getting out of debt rather than continuing it and using your money as wealth. It is a sacrifice you're making, so it can be seen as allocating your money to something you wait (this being the peace of mind of being debt free rather than a big screen TV or whathaveyou). So you're actually rather well off, to be able to dig out of that hole.

I'm poor by choice too, but differently: bad choices made "way back when" and now having to live in a slum cuz I can't afford anything else. I guess you could say rather than "by choice" it's "by my choices". Considering I can't get a job in web development anymore due to the economy and the local industry, I'm forced to work for less than half of what I used to and (this entirely my choice, so I don't bitch about it) support Sam whie she's upping her grades so she can get financial aid. Of course, I'm making good on it by trying freelance stuff to up that a bit.

You also live in rather nice digs in a decent neighborhood, close to light rail. I live in a slum in a not-so-decent neighborhood, close to a bus line but still distant. Not Pocket-area distant, but enough to be inconvienent.

I am poor. Sam and myself live on between $1000 and $1200 a month. I still got it good compared to others, though.

Of course, you have your point of view and I don't mean to rain shit on your day. I have an opinion and it was triggered now. However, I do respect that you are putting your money towards your debt and I do wish you luck if succeeding. People like us need the occasional success story ;)

And remember, you are choosing your poverty level.

What brings you 'round these parts?

Mmmmm, fresh Nuggets of Suffering! I hope there's some BBQ Sauce of Despair to dip them in.

I browse graphxgrrl's friends list on occasion, and couldn't help but notice a bolded Primus lyric. :)
